From Bondage to Hope: Jabbar Masih’s Journey Out of Modern-Day Slavery
In the heart of Pakistan’s brickyards, where smoke chokes the sky and sweat writes silent stories of suffering, one man’s journey stands as a beacon of hope — Jabbar Masih, a father of six, who spent years shackled by the chains of bonded labor.
Trapped under a crippling debt of 160,000 PKR (approximately $575 USD), Jabbar and his family were forced to work tirelessly in inhumane conditions. With no access to clean drinking water, no electricity, and no opportunity for his children to attend school, life became a cycle of despair and exhaustion.
In Pakistan, bonded labor is a harsh reality for tens of thousands. Families are lured into taking small loans during times of crisis — but what follows is a lifetime of unpaid labor, abuse, and stolen futures.
But Jabbar’s story didn’t end in darkness.
